Remembering Similitude Terms in CBR
In concept learning, inductive techniques perform a global approximation to the target concept. Instead, lazy learning techniques use local approximations to form an implicit global approximation of the target concept. In this paper we present C-LID, a lazy learning technique that uses LID for generating local approximations to the target concept. LID generates local approximations in the form ...
متن کاملStructure from Periodic Motion
We show how to exploit temporal periodicity of moving objects to perform 3D reconstruction. The collection of period-separated frames serve as a surrogate for multiple rigid views of a particular pose of the moving target, thus allowing the use of standard techniques of multiview geometry. We motivate our approach using human motion capture data, for which the true 3D positions of the markers a...
متن کاملRobust Periodic Motion and Motion Symmetry Detection
We describe a robust technique for detecting nonstationary periodic motion from a moving and static camera. We also describe a robust technique for discriminating motion symmetries (periodic motion classification), which we apply to classifying running humans (bipeds) and canines (quadrupeds). The system has been implemented to run in real-time (30 Hz) on standard PC workstations.
متن کاملDetecting and Segmenting Periodic Motion
A new algorithm is presented for the detection and segmentation of multiple periodic motions in image sequences A periodicity measure which provides an accurate quantitative measure of sig nal periodicity in the form of temporal harmonic energy ratio is proposed The periodicity tem plates which incorporate the segmented region with the associated periodicity energy distribu tion and motion fund...
متن کاملSimilitude in the cardiovascular system of mammals.
Scaling laws governing the cardiovascular system of mammals are discussed in the present review in a manner emphasizing their experimental basis. Specific attention is given to the well-known experimental laws requiring the rate of oxygen consumption and the heart rate of mammals to vary with body mass raised to the powers 3/4 and -1/4, respectively. This review involves reconsideration and fur...
